Eğer İlgi Zamirinin nitelediği isimden önce “the first, the only, the last, the second” gibi bir sıra sayısı veya “the most” gibi superlative yapı var ise mastar , gelecek zaman yerine geçmişi vurgulayacaktır.Yani çeviride “...cek, ...cak” eki “...en, ...an” ekine döner.

The firs man to get out off the bus. (Otobüsten ilk inen adam)
İkinci cümlede, İlgi Zamirinin nitelediği “man” isminin önünde bir sıra sayısı olduğu için geçmiş vurgalanmış oldu.
